This is a calibration test I created for checking scaling and rod length on my delta. I added a 50mm tall step test for verifying motor steps/mm. Each Step is 10mm and it's 10mm thick.
If the steps print accurately, ie the top step is 50mm tall, then move on to testing scaling issues below. For my D300VS it's 800 steps/mm. If the error grows from step to step then the steps/mm need to be adjusted. Note: Slicing software can have an affect on exact height along with extruder ratio. My prints are typically .2mm too tall.
The scaling cross has the follwoing dimensions:
The Size from end to end is 150mm.
The bars are 20mmx4mm set at 25, 50 and 75mm from the center
The pegs are meant to be measured from the outside of the center to the opposite side of each peg as 20, 50 and 75mm spacing to make it easier to check with calipers.
The arms are 3mm and pegs are 3 more for a total of 6mm tall. In case your z steps/mm are off.
Hopefully this will help determine the proper values for fine tuning. If the bars grow or shrink from inner to outer it should indicate an adjustment of diagonal rod length is needed. I found my printer needed a slight adjustment with the M579 command. x and y were 1.004. Now it prints to withing .02mm accuracy.
