My dehumidifier part connected to the external hose developed hairline crack which started leaking water on my basement floor. This was a key dehumidifier part to drain the water to a floor drain, that does not require emptying the storage tank every day. I could not find a replacement part online and I did not want to buy a new dehumidifier just to avoid emptying the container.
I decided to try to model a part with on CAD and to print it on the 3D printer. This would be a good practical use of my 3D printer and I would learn a lot about the CAD tool in the process. It was a learning experience because the part was quite complicated. The gray CAD drawing is what I ended up generating. The white part is the original part. The black one is my new 3D printed replacement part that I printed. I used PLA material printed at 100% fill, to start with, so if it does not hold up, I can always print another part with a more robust 3D printer filament material. But so far part has been working fine.
I had lots of measurements with a caliper to get the new model like the old part. It came out close and seems to fit into the dehumidifier. I made the hose connection a little longer than the original, but everything else was like the old part.
