This is an enclosure for supercapacitor (AKA ultracapacitors) or similar battery cell shaped objects. It was made with OpenSCAD and is a work in progress. It can be customized and scaled. This is my first project and I am still working to improve the structure.
The lid for the this project is available at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1730028

THERE IS ONE KNOWN BUG. It's listed on Github. The screw holes placed into the center posts don't always get added to shapes that are longer than they are wide. I am investigating the cause.
The code can be modified to suit various configuration and sizes of components. The default is a 2x3 grid of D cell capacitors. I created this to install an automotive supercapacitor bank to replace the lead-acid battery for car charging.
Design Philosophy:
I wanted an enclosure with enough space to store the cells plus the protection circuits. I also cutaway at the area between the cells providing enough space to hold them safely and securely. The center posts have been tapped to allow mounting of various things (in my config I'll be placing the over-voltage protection circuit of which I'll post when it's complete).
The lid has two large bolt holes of which I'll be using some kind of bolt as the electrodes to attach this. My previous case has wire right next to each other coming out soldered to battery lugs and those were a nightmare. Constantly touching each other when not in use.
This is a prototype and I will be printing my first two cases this week and updating them based on my experience with them. Stay tuned for the cap circuits and the final install and performance of the devices.
