This is my customizable air freshener cover. It consists of 4 pieces. An inner shell, an outer shell and a button which is made by gluing 2 parts together. Also, a standard air wick spray can is need of course. By pressing on the big top button, a breath of fresh air will be released and the button is pushed back in place by the air can. No batteries required, no wasted air while not in need.
HOW TO PRINT:
) Print "Inner shell" in your preferred colour and material. Only a slight edge will be seen of it once it is finished.
) Print "Button_v2" in your preferred colour and material for the big button on top.
) Print "Nozzle holder" in any colour you like. It won't be seen afterwards. Check if your Air Wick can matches the nozzle style from the picture or it won't work.
) Use "Outer shell template" to cut out the necessary material of your preferred outer shell design. I used a cylinder sized model with a wolfram's elementary cellular automaton generated texture ( https://www.myminifactory.com/de/object/3d-print-wolfram-s-ca-cubes-collection-57478 ). I have done this in PrusaSlicer by setting the infill and shell layers to 0 but you can use any program you like.
) Once all parts are printed, put them together and glue the nozzle holder to the bottom side of the button. I also used foam tape on 4 sides of the spray can, to give it a tighter fit. The can is inserted from the bottom.
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS:
I was unhappy with the automatic dispensing system from the standard air wick Freshmatic. If I turned it down it wasn't spraying while I was using the bathroom. On the other hand, if I turned it up the cans were empty all the time, and I even had one fail on me completely. I started putting down the spray can without the machine, but I didn't like the look of it in my bathroom so I designed this spray can cover to give it a more elegant look.
Feel free to post your own designs.
Enjoy.
