Current Pickup and Spring Generator for Model Trains Gauge G (IIm) and Gauge 1.
Naturally you can use the spring generator not only for model trains...
Version 2 released (2018/02/05).
Enhancements for mounting options.
Version 2.1 released (2018/02/15).
In CurrentPickup.scad more design options.
In StackedBladesSpring.scad much more mounting options.
Most advantage: Size reduction of the spring box.
Version 3 released (2018/03/05).
Central mounting of the spring possible. Much size reduction. Easier installation.
See *.stl files 2 and 3
Version 3.1 released (2018/03/06)
Changes: Source code decorated with much more comments.
Minor change in horizontal wing size (~ 1mm).
Version 4 released (2018/03/25)
a) A second central mounting option added: The spring is orientated vertical. See the picture of Current_Pickup_Vertical_Front.stl.
This has the advantage of an easier adjustment of the tension of spring.
b) Until version 4 the blades were always arranged parallel to each other. Now you can define also a
spread angle for the blades. You can see an example for a spread angle of 10° in the Spring_Spreaded_V4.stl.
c) Adding much more comments in the StackedBladesSpring_V4.scad file.
Older versions of the *.scad file were removed from this thing. Version 4 covers them all.
Only the names of some variables were changed.
Version 4_1 released (2018/04/05)
Error correction: SpreadAngle <> 0 handling adjusted for bottom mount horizontal and vertical springs.
Version 4_2 released (2018/04/07)
Error correction for InitialSuspensionHub for vertical springs: Enhanced calculation for strange settings.
InitialSuspensionHub_Z set to 1mm instead of 1.5mm
MetalPlateHeight set to 1.
Advantages:
a) Allows an easier production of self made plates.
b) With a smaller height the springs can be positioned nearer to the axle(s).
2018/07/03
Platform extender added: If you want to mount a spring behind the second axle, it may be that you need an extender so that the shoes of the pickup will not touch the wheels.
Pictures for vertical spring added.
