This little box is an educational tool to help people understand what is asymmetric encryption (using a public/private keys pair).
It is composed with many parts :
main body of the box
the door
a lock
a sliding "barrel"
two keys (one meant to be public the other to be kept private)
You'll also need following items:
2x M3 16mm screw (used for hinges)
2x M3 12mm + 2x 3mm nuts (used to lock the back plate)
3x magnets 22.2x5.6x5.6mm (used for bi-stable locking system)
a bit of glue (if magnets does not lock themselves in their plastic slots)
Example of use :
One user opens the box, put a message or a little object into it, locks the box using the public key of the recipient. The box is now locked (message/object is not available to any other user without the proper private key).
The recipients receives the box (which can be forwarded to her using many people as we like (because the payload is protected), then she can open the box and read/get the message/object.
By using this tool I expect things will be more understandable to many ones.
