CR-10 Easy Snap-on Universal Bed Mount
I have a pile of old mounts I've tried (along with the failed prints) for my CR-10. Much of the material used is the designer's custom mount.
... and most seem to be focused on taking up the same mounting space- so you can't use them at the same time.
As a videographer, I have a large stockpile of 1/4 - 20 adapters/mounts/things which are cheap and made to do the same thing, in a more generic way.
As a software architect, I constantly strive to make things modular with a simple, focused, role.
I also really dislike disassembling my printer to install something. It just adds time an complexity.
The Solution
So, a universal mount was needed that was also easy to print and install. This thing is my solution. The very common large bed leveling knobs are compatible (shown in the pictures for reference). Just add a small washer between the knob and the bed if space is needed.
Additional Information
Alignment
By nature of what it is, it's a WIDE print. So, make sure you have it centered or even left justified to make sure it is within the CR-10's bounds.
Infill
I used 20% infill in the piece shown in the photos. It is very strong and more sturdy than any of the other mounts. NOTE: You could probably get away with only 10% infill.
For the FRONT of the bed only!
THIS DOES NOT WORK ON THE REAR OF THE BED. First, the heated bed wire support bracket is in the way. Second, and more serious- the Y motor is in the way!
I do not (currently) have a need for side rails (I can't imagine what they'd be used for) BUT, I did add small through holes at the ends of the sides to allow for side rails to be attached if someone wants.
