Attached is one of my favorite 3D scans captured at my Coney Island Scan-A-Rama booth at this year's Mermaid Parade. For several months, I've been working on The Scan-O-Tron 3000; a "Next Gen" version of my Heavy Duty Lazy Susan for Full Body Scanning thing (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:28454), which also integrates a vertical rail for the Kinect to move on for ReconstructMe scans. The results have been amazing! I can now scan a complete person and have a near perfect mesh that can be cleaned up in Netfabb for 3D printing in moments. I have just launched Scan-A-Rama as a Kickstarter campaign and will be releasing my plans for the new rig here on Thingiverse when the campaign is done.
Please Consider Backing My Kickstarter Project Coney Island Scan-A-Rama; a 3D Portrait Studio based in Brooklyn's famous beach. Everyone scanned for the project will be printed out to form the crowd in a 3D printed installation of 1914 Coney Island. Find out more at http://www.thegreatFredini.com
Take a look at my results. I have already uploaded collections of 3D scanned people from two Makerfaires this year, and the results keep getting better: http://www.thingiverse.com/fredini/collections/coney-island-scan-a-rama
Please consider backing the project and I'll look forward to sharing my plans here this September!
