This is my 2nd remix of elnillo's excellent MPCNC dust shoe design (first remix: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3776141 ). This uses the mounts from elnillo's design, and replaces the dust shoe part.
My first version worked well, but it was difficult to see what the tool was doing and it got in the way for things like tool changes and Z-probing. My goal with this version was to make a dust shoe that was more compact and open at the end. I also decided to add a short length of LED strip inside, routing the power wires to the MPCNC 12V supply.
I'm pretty happy with the way it works. It's simple, I can see the tool, but there is enough suction that I don't end up with dust everywhere. The LED light makes it easy to see what is happening.
Just like in my first version, I use a 1.25" adjustable closet rod from Home Depot for the 32mm tube.
This version comes in two pieces. I stuck the LED strip inside, made a small hole on the side to route the cables, then glued the top part (I used CA glue and sealed any gaps with hot glue).
Can be printed in any material. I used translucent PETG with a .24mm layer height, 25% infill,
