Originally created by Schlotzz. It was easier for me to remodel it in Inventor than to modify the SCAD file. The original extruder is very nice but it was difficult somewhat to change the filament so I added a small handle for quick release and guided the filament as close to the drive gear and ball bearing as possible.
Print this model and tell me what you think, I have included the inventor files as well as STEP files for ease of modification. This is made for use with NEMA 17 stepper motors, 9 mm x 11 mm drive gear and 608ZZ bearing. This is for 1.75 mm filament.
Hardware needed:
3x 10 mm M3 screws with plain/lock washers
1x 15 mm M3 hex socket bolt
1x 20 mm M3 hex socket bolt with 2 plain washers
1x M3 nut
1x M3 nylock nut
1x 3mm ID spring
1 or 2 push-fit connectors 4mm tube OD M5
1x 8 mm M6 screw
2x M4 bolts
Tap the hole in the tensioner with an M6 tap, insert the bearing and screw it in place.
Insert the hex nut in the slot and tap the filament outlet (optional: and inlet) holes for M5 threads. Screw in the push-fit connectors and screw the body to the motor face with 3 screws in the counter bored holes. Attach the tensioner to the body with the 15 mm hex bolt but do not tighten as it will restrict the movement. With the tensioner closed, add the nylock nut to the 20 mm bolt backwards (you can do this by screwing it forwards until you tap the nylon and then flip it). Then add a washer, the spring, another washer and screw it through the slot of the tensioner till it screws in the previously inserted nut. Mount the extruder to your printer frame with the M4 screws.
Use the nylock nut to adjust the tension.
If you need another version for 624 bearing or another drive gear please let me know.
Future improvements might include PTFE filament guides.
