This is a mounting system for a 40/50w 50mm diameter CO2 Glass Laser Tube to fit a China Blue/White Ebay 50w (really 40w) Laser CNC Engraving cutting machine.
I designed this from scratch, however I took cues from the following things so I wanted to give source idea credit:http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:420853http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1263096
Neither seemed logical. Both mounted facing in which means removing the whole bracket to remove the tube.
My goals with this design:
Fit my machine and tube
Solidly support tube
Can be installed without modifying the machine
Can be installed without being an octopus
Tube easily installed and removed
Easy to adjust tube position at any time
Use mostly common materials (preferably what I have on hand)
Easy to reproduce
Can be adapted for additional tube sizes (upgrades later)
I started out with notches for some plastic tubing, however the tubing I had was too stiff and I was afraid it would put too much pressure on the glass tube so I used some open cell foam instead which worked just as well. I left the notches in the ring for those who may have better tubing on hand.
The inner ring has a 54mm opening which allows for 2mm room on all sides of a 50mm tube for whatever padding/tubing you choose to employ.
You will need 6 4mm x 4.6mm heat sets: https://www.mcmaster.com/#94180a351/=17jj3tx
The rest of the hardware is all cap head 4mm screws and nuts commonly available at local hardware stores.
Here is a video of the 3D:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWiKpKNmNiA
I rendered the video with transparent materials of different colors to show how the pieces fit together.
This was designed to fit in my Blue/White China laser. I do not know if it will fit other laser machines. If you do print it and it does fit your machine, let me know so I can add the info to this description and keyword tags for others to find.
I printed mine in PETG using 3mm layer heights. However I feel ABS and PLA are also just as suitable for this print.
