PLEASE READ BEFORE PRINTING...................
Update 1/23/2018
The TopWrap and BottomWrap cover parts were wrong. So sorry for anyone that may have wasted plastic on them. Sizings were wrong. Please find the new Version-2 parts and download and print them. Use a hair blow drier if needed to get the fit needed. Various printer settings will be different making the wraps small degrees off. Also updated the Reel part with a screw hole for using a couple small screws for securing the wraps. Thanks and sorry again for the mix-up.
My rendition of a ClothesLineReel for indoor use. Some things just need to be hung out to dry after only a few minutes of dryer run time, letting them finish their drying hung up. The problem in winter is the question........ where? Hope this help answer that question and give some a sense of "whow I made it myself" to boot.
I have not printed this myself. After printing an item of very similar makings, I feel it will print just fine. I'm near out of plastic and not in need of one at the moment. So any problems printing, drop me a note and I'll look at it. Will watch comments close for the next week or two.
A few notes:
1) the reel was designed for use without the cover/wraps. You may use the wraps need be. I would print the wraps and wrap them around the reel and use a hair blow drier if needed. Don't think one will be needed. The reason I feel that way, is, there is a very thin spot on each for making the wrap around the corners easy. Using a .5mm nozzle this would be only two layers. Also, I would use some Supper-Glue on the clip after all is fitted and things seem fine. Can remove the cover-wraps by pulling them off the top and bottom studs on the reel. Had to make them in halves with the total wrap being too long for my 8 inch square print bed.
2) You will need to use some support but not that much. Be sure and use support under the spool, gear stop lever handle, reel handle and some will be needed as well under a couple teeth in the gear. The tooth to the left facing the reel handle. Do not include support around any of the bearings for the spool, handles, or levers. Should print fine in those areas without.
3) Should be printed strong. Use 50% or more layer resolution. Should be fine that way.
4) The reel handle IS-NOT for pulling the slack out BY ITS-SELF. It is mainly for stowing away the line after using the clothesline. Pull the slack out of the line, making the line good and tight by using your hands while reeling in the slack with the reel handle. This will keep from putting too much tension on the handle and keep it from breaking.
5) Find a strong wood stud in the wall you plan to use it around. I don't think it will work long mounting it only in sheet-rock. Will work its way loose and pull out. Use washers on each hole as well as the hooks. Hooks may work a good long time mounting them only in sheet-rock if you use the nice sheet-rock hardware screws. The kind you must make a bit larger hole and then tighten up on the long screw. 6) Made for about 12 feet of 1/8th inch thick line which is used for clothes-Lines. While making it, I was thinking of mounting mine in a corner out of the way and using Four hooks for clothes while they were drying.
7) You can use One, Two, or Three hooks. Whichever way you feel best and whatever way you tend to use the reel.
Hope you find useful and yours prints well. HAPPY 3D PRINTING!!
OH! As well, please post a picture of your make. Will love to see one made !!
