This 3d build was done in OpenScad and comes in 3 sections - top, mid, and lower sections.
The design is a 3d sketch of the steeple of the First United Church of Christ in Easton, PA.
The project ended up being glued to the top of a wooden candy dish that I turned.
The current church building was built in 1775-76 and was used as a hospital for wounded and infirm Revolutionary War soldiers after the battles of Trenton, Brandywine, and Germantown.
in the 1830s the church's steeple was built and designed by an important young architect named Thomas Ustick Walter who eventually gained notoriety and designed The Capital Building Dome in Washington.
The steeple on that church remains the tallest structure in Easton, PA. Funding for its restoration has been ongoing in 2019.https://www.firstucceaston.org/our-church-history/our-steeple-a-clock-tower.html
The top part of the steeple used a very well-organized .SCAD by Ari M Diacou, but, for simplicity, I could have used a simple cylinder coming to a point with 8 sides: "cylinder(d1=width, d2=0,h=height, $fn=8);"
