This child safety latch is a very simple, but effective design. It just slides on top of the door and locks/unlocks by engaging with a dowel that is screwed into the top of the door frame. One screw is all that is required for mounting.
Edit: I've also added a door catch, if you'd rather use that than a dowel.
Edit 2: I've added a new design (version e) where I've strengthened the area around the latch. It's amazing how strong a 2-year old can be!
I've specifically designed this latch for easy 3D printing without support.I really like this design, because it prevents finger pinching by holding the door tightly closed. This type of latch can be a real life saver for parents!
