Ponziani match The Ponziani game or Ponziani opening is a chess opening characterizing the moves: e4 e5 Cf3 Cc6 c3 and takes its name from Domenico Lorenzo Ponziani who analyzed it at the end of the 18th century Analysis White clearly wants to support the future push in d4 even if, in doing so, he takes the natural house c3 from the horse. Black could therefore begin to threaten the e4 pawn with 3 ... Cf6 or 3 ... d5. Given the good counter-game of Nero, which has several interesting variants available, the push in c3 is branded as premature and therefore the Ponziani opening is rarely played at high level. #chess #open game #Ponziani match
