Since everybody else has a fictional airline, I decided to chip in one of my own! Central Air Lines is a fictional 70's Airline. In 1967, Central's management decided to purchase 20 widebody aircraft to serve along side the DC-8 Super 60 fleet. After reviewing the 747, A300, DC-10 and L-1011, the 747 was found to be too large and the DC-10 and A300 didn't match the technological and safety advancements of the L-1011. It was therefore that 25 L-1011-1 TriStar aircraft were ordered. When all entered overseas service in 1973, numerous stops had to be made in the flights for refuelling, due to the L-1011-1's short haul range. In 1975, 20 were converted into L-1011-100 standard, cutting the stopovers and eliminating all from the Transatlantic routes alltogether. 10 were later converted to L-1011-250 standard, eliminating all but one stopover on the Transpacific routes in 1977. The five previously untouched domestic L-1011-1 aircraft were converted to L-1011-50 standards. The L-1011 fleet was finally retired between 1992 and 1996. One L-1011, Ship 702 (pictured here), is under restoration for eventual display at the Central Air Lines Transportation Heritage Museum. #AIr #Airline #Central #Fake #Fictional #L1011 #L10111 #L1011385 #L10113851 #Lines #Lockheed #N702CL #Star #Tri #TriStar #TriStar_1
