Central ordered 100 Martin 2-0-2 and 2-0-2A aircraft in the late 40's. In 1951, the Glenn L. Martin Company changed the last 45 in the order to 4-0-4 aircraft as the 2-0-2A and 2-0-2 were no longer being built. In 1955, several 4-0-4s were sold off after the delivery of many Northwest Jetliners. Unfortunately, the Jetliners weren't able to generate enough capacity to make a large enough profit, so several 2-0-2A and 4-0-4 aircraft were purchased used to accompany the Jetliners on the routes. After the JS-8-3A problem was solved, the Jetliner and 4-0-4 were able to operate without much of a problem and could use most of the same ground equipment. The last Central 4-0-4 was retired in 1970 and the last 2-0-2 was retired in 1972. #202 #202A #2O2 #2O2A #404 #4O4 #Air #Airlines #Central #Lines #Martin #N56007 #Skyliner
