Have a ceiling grid in your basement and want to easily attach speakers or other items? This might be the part you need.
I wanted to mount speakers for a home theater system in my basement, but I was having trouble tracking down ceiling grid clips for my speakers. The ones I did find were a little too expensive for what I wanted. I designed these using OpenSCAD so parameters could be adjusted depending on your speaker size and placement. Currently, the "nail" mount will work with just about any keyhole mounting hole.
I have small 4" speakers so you may want to adjust the post_extender parameter if you have something bigger. The weight of my small speakers has no effect on grid stability, but use common sense with what you end up hanging.
I also have an experimental "ball mount" within the script, but it appears that a) the ball isn't the right size yet b) there are some structural issues with the ball attachment. The eventual goal is to be able to position the speaker at various angles.
Print Settings:
I used simple PLA, 10% infill and 2 shells and 0.200 mm resolution (default settings on my Makerbot Replicator+) and didn't have a problem. These parameters don't seem to matter much, but you may want to increase infill to boost strength. Print with clip laying on its body with nail pointing up (yes, it'll print the nail cap just fine).
