Ceiling Bed

This is a bed that should raise easily to the ceiling to clear a bedroom and have the floorspace to yourself. Beds take up a lot of space and the bedroom is a room that works perfectly as an office during the day, its out of the way of human traffic, privacy minded and often unused only at night. This is like a murphy bed but you can leave your bedsheets in a messy state and push it up and away. It should be as easy opening a front door to lift this, no load what-so-ever. This is a conceptual model that a skilled builder should be able to build with their own style and knowledge of materials. The only important thing is that quality materials are used for the bolts, pulleys and wire. I am no engineer but imagine using at least M8 threaded eye bolts, metal cable and appropriate pulleys of 300-400kg carryweight. It would be possible to build a version that doesn't have the counterweight by placing a winch. One steel cable would need to be extended and given another pulley to accommodate the new form of operation (The cable would run from the left side to the right and would form an L-shape when going towards the pulley). I would advise using a self-breaking or auto-breaking winch that doesn't spin freely when given a load. The standard pulling winch (one directional) could result in injury when the break is left off and the handle not controlled correctly (bed falling on your head :P). In theory its possible to lower the bed and remove the cables using carabiners, this is up to the user. keywords: bedup, bed up, ceiling bed, murphy bed, murphey bed, folding bed, tiny house, tiny office, tiny bed, vanlife, thow, tiny house on wheels, minimalist
