The H-20 is a medium lift, General Purpose helicopter that was designed by the Corporacia Disseny Aerodinamic (Aero Design Corporation) based in Zaragossa in 1982. Originally is developed form the H-12 as a way to add a rear door to the H-12 Arrantzalea. However, within a few months of the study beginning, it was decided to make the H-20 version larger than the original H-12 verison. The H-20’s main noticeable feature is the Coaxial Rotor System (similar to the Russian Kamov and the American Sikorsky S-2). Just like in other applications, the coaxial rotor’s benefits outweigh the complexity and maintenance factors. This system allows more maneuverability and forward speed than an equivalent single rotor system. The rotor system was designed from the outset to be a rigid, self-righting, carbon fiber design. The range was the longest of any medium lift helicopter on the market. It is also quicker. The version shown here (H-20 mk.VI Maritim) was a long range version that was developed to service the OGN fleets. It has a probe that allows in flight refueling. Plus extra fuel tanks allow this to have 50% more range than the standard version (1250 mile range, total) The H-20 has found overseas buyers, with a total of 3,278 built since production began in 1994. It operates with a standard crew of 2 pilots and and carry up to 12 passengers / Troops #black_hawk #blackhawk #catalan #coaxial #contra_rotating #H12 #Helicopter #maritime #maritime_patrol #navy #Occitan #occitania #OGN #pelica #pelican #resupply #Sonobouys #Torpedo #turbine #turboshaft
