This model contains an electric drive. You woun't see anything like this at the AXP (Automotive XPrize). This was designed to be a low cost design and most companies want a larger profit per unit. The design was formed with the idea that any number of body styles could be created on it. Electric vehicles have a potentially long life.Compared to internal combustion engines (ICE's) The electric motors controllers and batteries can easilly be replaced or upgraded for a reasonable price. Servicing is basically nothing until the first replancement of the battery pack. Some packs are expected to last 10years or more. Some cheeper lead acid as low as 2years. A battery management system (BMS) is required for best battery upkeep. The latest technology in Li based batteries could provide as much as a 300mi range.
