Carrack-class light cruiser

The Carrack-class light cruiser was a class of cruiser initially used by the Galactic Republc, and later as an important addition to the Galactic Empire. Though 350 meters long (therefore frigate-sized), it was a heavily-armed warship for its size, and its engines can even keep up with with the X-Wing fighters for pursuit. Despite its fearsome firepower, it was not meant for frontline combat. It was also used as a cheap alternative for larger, more expensive capital ships, in situations where a Star Destroyer was unnecessary or even wasteful to use. Nonetheless, Carrack light cruisers may also be used as escort cruisers for much larger Star Destroyers.
