Captur-the drone

Captur is a quadrotor, whose frame structure is inspired by the hierarchical arrangement of Spider-web. The drone is resilient by design due its robust grid like structure.

The design of the drone is primarily focused on the singular Uni-body web frame. The drone design is optimized with minimal localized stress concentration points. This allows for the design to provide more strength to weight ratio by relatively reducing weight of the frame. Lesser weight increases the endurance of the flight & increases its performance. The principle of generative design is applied while designing the drone.

A stiffer material with a higher ultimate strength will be resilient for unevenly distributed stresses. The body can be 3D printed with Nylon material.

The low-cost drone can be manufactured easily by any DIY enthusiasts with 3D printing a monocoque structure for basic low-end applications such as surveillance and to capture aerial videos.
