This is a 5 slot rail that should mount to any standard consumer camera mount threaded for 1/4"-20 tpi (You must supply a 1/4"-20TPI nut). "Why would you want to do that?" you may ask. So you can mount weapon scopes, flashlights, night vision or lasers onto a tripod. Have a broken scope that can't hold zero? Turn it into a poor man's telescope/rangefinder. Or mount a flashlight on a tripod to help you work on the kitchen sink. You can use the laser for building fences, find property bounderies or trace bullet holes.
You must supply a 1/4"-20tpi nut into the hex hole. Any should fit.
Note: Some camera threads might be too short to reach the threaded area of the nut, so you may need to file down one end of the nut so it can reach the strong threaded portion of the hexnut.
I also tried printing 1/4"-24tpi threads directly into the rail and was not satisfied with them. I dunno, maybe I'll try working on it again if anyone wants it.
Other fitment notes: I compared this rail to a bunch of other rails on Thingiverse and it seems to be the proper size, more or less. It's also low-poly, so no fancy bevels. It seems there is trouble sliding on some types of mounting claws (ie, the ones that slide on - as opposed to the type that unscrew and clamp on like scope mounts). Let me know if there are fitment issues.
Printed at draft quality, 40% - 100% infill.
