The C242 is my take on what a N.2 Equivalent of a Boeing 737 / Airbus 320 (near future). In other words, it is a medium range airliner that can carry around 140–180 passengers depending on internal configuration. The C242 has a very noticeable Boxed Wing Design. This design goes a long way to reduce turbulence, which increases range, efficiency, and speed (relative to lift). Engines are also Highly Efficient and generate approximately 27,000lbs of thrust each. Range is can be up to 10,000km in long range configuration but it is normally around 8,000-8,500kms. Top speed is Mach 0.81. The wing design allows for extremely slow take-off and landings. This is good for smaller airfields, which allows full-sized jet service to smaller airports. Also, due to the 100% composite construction, the airframe is very light. With correct landing gear mods (offered from the factory), the CDA C242 can land on either rough or unapproved, dirt, runways. The C242 has a next gen avionics package, equipped with AI. It can fully operate without human input (aka it’s a drone). However, it is not allowed to operate under these conditions with passengers aboard. CDA did test this system under a range of conditions, and has made deliveries under full automation (with a pilot and co-pilot onboard, just in case). The Engines are designed to be very quiet in operation. The C242 meets all existing noise standards at any operating airport in the world. The AMAN CPG30 design allows the C242 to take off at less than full power while still being fully loaded on a 1500m runway. Once again this is due to the low speeds that the Boxed Wing can operate in.
