I was looking at designs for the 3d printed mask holders, and they looked almost like little saw blades. The idea came to me yesterday to design one that used bungee cord I had on-hand from my local hardware store and costing $17 for 100 feet of 1/4" cord.
This design:
1 Only two small smooth plastic parts touch head
2 Nothing to tangle in long hair
3 For tie-on masks, adds elastic so that you can adjust the tension
4 Can feed cord through any hole to adjust fit
5 Option for thin string or thick strap
6 Contoured to touch ear comfortably
The V1 file has only a think slot for thin elastic bands.
The V2 file has a bigger channel for the masks with cloth strap.
The photos are PLA but I'd recommend PETG or ABS for durability.
This design:
