The Browning Model 1917 Machine Gun is a heavy machine gun used by the United States armed forces in World War I, World War II, Korea, and to a limited amount in Vietnam and by other nations. It was a belt-fed water-cooled machine gun that served alongside the much lighter air-cooled Browning M1919. It was used at the battalion level, and often mounted on vehicles (such as a jeep). There were two main iterations of it; the M1917, which was used in WWI, and the M1917A1 which was used after. The M1917 was used on the ground and some aircraft, and had firing rate of 450 round/min; the M1917A1 had a firing rate of 450 to 600 round/min. This model depicts the 1917A1 machine gun mounted on the M35 tripod. Also shown is the M1 series steam condensing hose with metal steam chest (leaning against the tripod leg) and the original wooden ammunition boxes containing the reusable cloth belt and .30 caliber ammo. Please note that various parts of the model can be toggled on and off via the Layer Manager. Additional info can be found at http://browningmgs.com/. Thanks to RLGun for the use of his .50 caliber ammo, which was rescaled and converted into the Springfield 30.06 caliber cartridges used here. #30_cal #30_caliber #3006 #1917 #30_caliber_Springfield #ammo #ammunition #belt_fed #belt_feed #Browning #disintegrating #John_Browning #link_belt #M1_disintegrating_ling #M1_link #M35_tripod #machine_gun #machinegun #Military #NATO #thirty_caliber #tripod #US #United_States #war #World_War_1 #World_War_2 #WW1 #WW2
