Dark and grayscale Finnish mentality was the fountainhead for the Boxx- workstation concept. I wanted to focus on the outer casing design but then I found myself focusing also a bit to the overall inner construction especially wiring and the practicality of the product.

Hiili (English=coal) is a product that offers a fresh vision of the futures workstation. It is not a square-like element that should hide under the table but more like a harmonic decoration element which delights the users even if it would sit on table or floor.

This concept is mostly made from plastic. The center coverage is made from metal plate that will be bend open when there is need to install new cards inside (same kind of fold able principal that has seen on some outboard motors in 60´s). I wanted to keep the solid design on control so I decided to hide all wiring by making them run down to the table along the hidden inner cavity inside the back of the casing. The plug-in back hatch allows wire install in a normal way but will hide all the mishmash allowing only usb-wires to be seen. On/off button is situated on the top of the computer so it is like a element that is meant to press down.

For me this was a fun piece of concept to design and I hope the visualizations will offer fresh thoughts for you in Boxx too. Thanks. :)
