Bjerrine is one the last standing villages that features the dark memory of the famine that struck Mount Lebanon during WWI.

The inhabitants abandoned the village during the famine, some say by boat, never to be heard of again.

The site holds some 10 houses and a church, with wells, olive press and tombs.

The way the tombs are carved in the rocks shows that the village dates back to the Roman era.

The site is part of Gherfine municipality’s jurisdiction, and I highly recommend that you visit it. You will need your hiking gears, as well as power bars and beverages.
A hike to the lost town must be made since the road to the village no longer exists.

There, several stone walls remain, leaving traces and ruins of the people who had once inhabited this land 100 years ago. - Bjerrine Gherfine, Lebanon - Buy Royalty Free 3D model by LibanCiel
