Components Passive solar: When sunlight is let in it heats the dark colored concrete floor which acts as a thermal battery. The passive solar could provide 70% of the houses heating needs.  Solar panels/windmill: used to make energy. Batteries could be added, so if they produce extra energy it could be used later.  Tulikivi wood stove: “It is made of soapstone which has excellent heat retaining and conducting properties.” (http://www.tulikivi.com/usa-can/tulikivi/Soapstone)  Radiant floor heat: Pipe can be added to the wood stove to heat the floor.  Extra insulated walls: Walls can be made a foot thick to accommodate extra isolation.  Garden: Used to produce organic food.  High efficiency appliances: Appliances that don’t use a lot of energy.  Geothermal energy: water pipes are sent through the ground to absorb the normal temperature of the earth which is 65 degrees. This reduces the energy needed to heat up domestic water and the radiant floor.
