Inspired by Ben Heck, I decided to build my own bench top power supply to use when testing devices. I found an old slim ATX power supply that could put out about 300 watts and cut back all the wires on it to clean up the clutter and only use the wires I needed.
~Please note that I used a small sized ATX power supply that is shorter than standard ATX power supplies~
I have included the sketchup file so that you can extend the base out to match the dimensions of your power supply.
In this from left to right:
12v
5v
3.3v
Ground
You can obtain various different voltages beyond this by combining the positive leads as I've shown in the photos.
For this project, I used the following items I had laying around:
5mm Red LED for status indicatorhttp://www.radioshack.com/5mm-red-led/2760041.html#.VP08PEI6Fms
100 ohm resistor for LEDhttp://www.radioshack.com/1-8-watt-100-ohm-carbon-film-resistors-5-pack/2710005.html#.VP08XUI6Fms
Banana Jackshttp://www.radioshack.com/banana-jacks-2-pack/2740725.html#.VP08wEI6Fms
Solderless Banana Plugs for leadshttp://www.radioshack.com/solderless-banana-plugs/2740721.html#.VP08xkI6Fms
