I called this a remix but I really only took inspiration and the Arduino code from the original project - which is also very cool!
This is an Arduino adapter project for a commercially available pendant. Search for "Universal 4-Axis CNC Pendant" on eBay. I recommend the style with the side button marked "Enable Switch" so that the wheel only moves the CNC head when the button is pressed as it's easily knocked
The Arduino Leonardo runs a script (derived from the original project - thanks for the head start) that sends bCNC keystrokes to the bCNC application - simulating keyboard input.
I'm using bCNC in a Raspberry Pi 3 with a Protoneer CNC hat.
This may work with other systems too. It's a lot of wiring. I still haven't managed to get the emergency stop wired in but I might think of something in the future. I suspect this may have to be wired past the Arduino and directly to the CNC controller.
In future I may port the Arduino code to a Pro Micro in the future and hide the Pro Micro in the Pendant with a thinner USB cable - but for now it's working
Thingiverse insisted I add some files of certain types. As .ino wasn't one of them I've added some .dxf files for the case that I cut for the Leonardo. Sorry, I cant' remember where I go them from so I can't credit the original author. These were cut on my K40 laser cutter in 3mm acrylic
