Here's my next design for the Multi-Function Reader challenge by Blackboard Transact: https://grabcad.com/challenges/the-multi-function-reader-design-challenge
! CONCEPT !
-------------------
This is an all-in-one design, with primary configuration including:
- Core unit/enclosure where stand is part of/integrated with main body (not separate).
- Angled display screen (7" diagonal).
- Speaker on lower left.
- Camera on top of backside, facing outward.
- Two detachable modules, one on each side, slide on & off from top. One houses the Mag Stripe and contactless/RFID readers. The second for default config could have snap-on lid and serve as a mini storage bin. This module design/position would house extensions when added on.
- RJ45 and two USB ports are on the back.
- The lower mid section of the back would have a snap-on panel to access interior (not modeled).
The unit can mount on a counter-top surface or a wall. The ports area is designed so when it's mounted on a wall, cables exit horizontally thus connectors don't stick up. There is room for additional ports.
DETACHABLE MODULES:
There are two of these, one on each side. They slide on and off the top of the unit so they can be placed away from it as a standalone if needed (and still look nice!). As mentioned, one is for card swipe and contactless credential readers, and the other is for add-ons.
ADD-ON OPTIONS/EXTENSIONS:
- Receipt printer integrates within the core unit. Receipt feeds out the front at bottom-right of screen. This slot would have a flush filler panel if printer extension is not added.
- Second camera can be added to front of core unit above screen.
- Motion sensors can be added to front, back or both, below camera(s).
- Braille keypad would be a detachable module.
- EMV compliant card reader would be a detachable module.
- Other modules possible; though only two attach to core, others can be standalone while appearing like they belong to the main unit because of their design.
- I put Micro SD card slot on the left but there's plenty of room to place it elsewhere.
