The canted FWC is designed to impart a small amount of spin on Nerf darts in order to improve accuracy.
Azure is designed for NERF STRYFEs.
UPDATES:
6.27.18 - MK2D version uploaded. Slight improvements including increased thickness of motor housing roof. (from 1mm to 2mm)
END OF ENTRY.
7.16.18 - MK2G version uploaded. Changed the angle of canting to 3.25º on each housing. NOTE: This version is a 42mm variant and will be tested using BlasterParts blue flywheels and MTB Neo Rhinos.
END OF ENTRY.
7.16.18 - TESTED. Using MTB Neo Rhinos with BP blues in a 42mm spacing.Comparison Blaster (Worker Swordfish (stryfe), Fang Re-Vamped, CC wheels, 43mm).
DISCLAIMER: This test did not include NEW CONDITION darts because this cage is designed to improve the performance of worn darts.
Swordfish FLAT RANGES: 50-100ft (mixed condition Elite darts), 50-60ft (old Nerf Accustrike), 70-80ft mixed condition accustrike CLONES)
ANGLED RANGES: ~60-105ft (mixed condition Elite darts), ~60ft (old Nerf Accustrike), 75-90ft (mixed condition accustrike CLONES)
Azure FLAT RANGES: ~65ft (mixed condition Elite darts), 40-50ft (old Nerf Accustrike), ~75ft (mixed condition accustrike CLONES)
ANGLED RANGES: 80-95ft (mixed condition Elite darts), 50-60ft (old Nerf Accustrike), ~80ft (mixed condition accustrike CLONES)
Conclusion: In exchange for a reduction in range, Azure CFWC achieved GREATER CONSISTENCY with mixed condition elite darts than the comparison. This is as expected as not all of the kinetic energy is imparted in the X-direction (some is imparted in the Y-direction). Not only were the ranges MORE consistent on the Azure CFWC, but the angle of lateral flight deviation was reduced from ~30º(total) to about 10-15º(total) from the direction of the muzzle.
Shortcomings: Due to inavailability of multiple motor sets, I was required to use two unlike motor sets for this test. However, the RPM rating on Fang RV and MTB N Rhinos are only 300RPM off, so the power alone shouldn't be too disparate. To compensate for the reduced RPM, I put the N Rhinos in a slightly tighter cage (which they are designed for), this should have allowed better grip, allowing more energy transfer — in theory, a more fair comparison.
