I wanted to make an axe sculpture from an old axe I had. I sanded down the wood and metal and chiseled out an area to inlay an extruded/3D print I made of the AXE (hair products) logo. I drilled holes through the handle and set in them a string of battery operated IKEA lights. I needed a way to mount the batteries in their switch case so I came up with this 3D model that would house the battery switch case by including a bay for a magnet that would hold the unit to the back side of the axe blade. I also modeled into the piece a tunnel that would be where I planned to tuck the excess wiring. The only problem is that my extruder went kaput on me during the print of this and so my Da Vinci 1.0 is out of order at the moment. Fortunately, the failed print was enough of a structure to use for the original purpose. For some reason my wife was not eager to have it hanging in the living room so my daughter (pictured here) is owning it.
