The Aston Martin Vanquish is Aston Martin's flagship Gran Turismo sports car. It was created in 2001 as a successor to the aging Virage. In 2007, it was replaced by the Aston Martin DBS V12, but after the end of DBS production, the Vanquish name was returned again. The first generation V12 Vanquish was created by designer Ian Callum, shown at the Geneva Motor Show and produced from 2001 to 2005. The car was influenced by the Aston Martin Project Vantage Concept, which debuted with a V12 engine at the North American International Auto Show in January 1998. The exterior bears a slight resemblance to the previous model, the DB7 Vantage. The chassis had a rigid construction, thanks to the use of an aluminum-carbon composite. The 6 liter, 48 valve 60° V12 engine produces 460 hp and 540 Nm of torque. Power is delivered through a 6-speed electro-hydraulic rear-wheel drive gearbox. The standard model was equipped with 355 mm ventilated brake discs with 4 piston calipers in front, ABS with electronic brake force distribution. Was the official car for James Bond in Die Another Day. Also had 2 concepts presented at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show, the Zagato Roadster convertible and the Bertone Jet 2 shooting break.
