Ares permanent settlement is a martin base constructed in a wheel configuration with a space elevator in the center and is constructed of four geodesic dome modules:
1)Crew area, which will be designed for psychological well-being and comfort of the crew.
2)Green house, where plants are grow for food and oxygen.
3)Warehouse and laboratory, where the crew works and stores the materials to construct and maintain their base.
4)Hanger, where the mars rovers are stored alongside the spare space elevator capsules.
All the base will be made of steel mined from mars so I will be stronger and more sturdy against the strong winds on mars then anything we could send from earth at the same cost.
The space elevator will be used as a replacement for the lander's used to bring the first humans to mars.
The elevator will be tethered to Phobos, Mars's closest moon and will ferry cargo and people in and out of mars orbit and collect the resupplies from earth, unlike earth the lower gravity on mars will
enable this kind of transport.
The base is built and sustained from materials extracted from the martian rock and sand such as:
Glass will be made from the Martian sand to make green house panels and windows.
Steel will be made from the iron oxide in the soil and carbon from the air to build the primary structure.
Cooper and silicon will be mined from the Martian rock to create the basic electrical systems on the base.
water will be drown from the martin poles and used for drinking, irrigation of the plants,powering fuel cells for electricity, the rockets on the space elevator or the mars all terrain rover.
In the event of a solar flare the Crew will take shelter in an underground bunker until it is safe to leave the shelter.
