First, at 2001, I wanted to design the entire temple but gave up as I found the video quality for walk through sequences would not be as good as I expected.
There are some renderings from this time as well.
The magnificent temple on the Acropolis of Athens, known as the Parthenon, was built between 447 and 432 BCE in the Age of Pericles, and it was dedicated to the city’s patron deity Athena. The temple was constructed to house the new cult statue of the goddess by Phidias and to proclaim to the world the success of Athens as leader of the coalition of Greek forces which had defeated the invading Persian armies of Darius and Xerxes.
Over the centuries this temple experienced turbulent history.
This video is a very good simulation to see what happened.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGitmYl6U90
If you are interested in architecture you can watch a simulation of the construction with all details, like I first wanted to do ;-)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6Wl4vyRqvw
This printable model represents a section of the north-western corner of the temple of
Parthenon, scaled 1 to 50.
It is an accurate reproduction based on drawings I could buy 2001 from the Archaeological
Society in Athens, called The Architecture of Parthenon ('Η ἀρχιτεκτονική τοῦ Παρθενῶνος').
A few slight modifications were administered to make the parts printable.
o be precise: As the columns lean a bit inward and the tilted axis of these columns
converge one and a half mile up in the sky, the floor actually has a spherical surface,
but was flattened by me for printing ease.
Each column of this model is different in diameter. All consist of 11 drums. This is
visibly marked by grooves, different for each column.
Furthermore, the diverging distances between the columns were averaged by me to appear constant and allow for extension on both sides.
Recommended print settings (I printed all parts with a 0.5mm nozzle)
All parts of the architrave, attic, column base, capital:
extrusion width = 0,4mm, layer hight = 0,2mm, 2 perimeter, 3 solid bottom layer, 4 solid top layer, 15% infill
Triglyphs
extrusion width = 0,4mm, layer hight = 0,2mm, 1 perimeter, 21 solid bottom layer, spiral vase, 0% infill
Columns
extrusion width = 0,45mm, layer hight = 0,15mm, 1 perimeter, 4 solid bottom layer, spiral vase, 0% infill
Stairs
extrusion width = 0,5mm, layer hight = 0,2mm, 1 perimeter, 3 solid bottom layer, spiral vase, 0% infill
Joint 2.6x15 and joining rail
extrusion width = 0,5mm, layer hight = 0,3mm, 1 perimeter, spiral vase, 0% infill
Joint 4.6x4.6x10
extrusion width = 0,4mm, layer hight = 0,2mm, 2 perimeter, 3 solid bottom layer, 3 solid top layer
