This is a remix of a nice drawing by @THINGIBOX
It takes his original shape (which is meant to join the keypad and magic trackpad together on a table) and adds extra support/rigidity to allow you to leave the assembled set on your lap. In my limited testing, it even holds together upside down (though, I'm sure why you would need that).
Like Thingibox's original, the design allows for the trackpad to attach to either side of the keyboard.
This is designed to combine an Apple Wireless Magic Trackpad (a1339) and the Apple MC184LL/B Wireless Keyboard.
Print the following
2 @ Endcaps
1 @ Joiner
Assembly:OPTION ONE
I found that I could snap the pieces in place, but it is important to watch that the rubber band along the bottom lands squarely in the channel cut in order to avoid damaging the rubber stopper. Once you have the rounded part snapped on, you should be able to pop the front lip over the edge of the keyboard/trackpad.
OPTION TWO
First check to make sure you print is free of "elephant footing" on the print bed side. It might be necessary to trip away the over extrusion on that side to avoid damaging the rubber band. Once you have ensured that the "elephant footing" is clear, carefully line up the joiner to the keyboard and slide on halfway. The holes on the bottom should slide over the rubber circular feet to help hold the joiner in place. Then carefully align and slide the trackpad into the other half of the joiner until the two pieces meet.
NOTE:
In order to power on/access the battery compartment, you will have to at least partially separate the two devices.
When printing the joiner, my printer had a minor layer shift which if why the largest plate has that line running down the middle of it. That was not intentional, but I found it did not affect the function of the print, so I kept it.
I have included a copy of the SketchUp file incase you decide it needs to be modified.
