I am restarting my History of Anfield collection, this been the first model. This is Anfield as it was in 1959 when Bill Shankly first took over Liverpool. Floodlights had been added in 1957 other than that the ground had been pretty much unchanged since the kop was rebuilt in 1928. The team at the time were languishing in the old second division and going nowhere. When he took over Shankly described the crumbling ground as a dump and the biggest toilet in the whole of Liverpool. The stand at the front of the picture is the Anfield Road end, to the left Kemlyn Road stand, on the right the Lake Street / Main Stand and at the far end and by far the biggest capable of holding just under 30,000 the Spion Kop. #Anfield #cup #FA #FIFA #Football #Ground #History #Kop #league #LFC #Liverpool #Mike #Old #Past #Soccer #Stadium #Terrace #Terracing #UEFA
