Anet A8 Centralized Wiring Enclosure??
UPDATE: FINISH AND TESTED
This is a project I've been working with for a little while now. I thought I'd post some images in hopes others might share some ideas and/or improvements before I finish and post the final stl files.
NOTICE NO WIRING IN THIS PROJECT SHALL EXCEED 12 VOLTS DC!
It's purpose is to bring all the wiring for the carriage-print head(s) into one organized place to make the swapping of print heads or individual components as quick and easy as possible without the need to run wires to the control board. I'm designing it with single carriage, dual extrusion in mind. This will mount in place of the LCD panel on the A8 with a single center located outlet sized to used 1/2 inch flexible automotive style conduit. This should give a neat, single, wiring harness straight down to the carriage. In conjunction with my Anet A8 Twin Bowden Motor Mount https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2873299 it should be a clean, functional arrangement.
I've simply named it THE BOX!
The block uses 3mm bolts passed through the back acting as lugs for connecting up to 2 hot ends.
The dupont assemblies come from Rue Mohr's "4 pin dupont interconnect" https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2798730. A single assembly mounted below the hotend lugs are for upto 2 Thermistors. I added three additional assemblies to the right for touch sensors or other dupont style connections. They have been modified to hold dupont connector assembles one male on female rather then the dual male junction connectors. All will accept 2-2 pin connectors expect for the assembly located middle-right which accepts a single 3 pin connector. The female assembles should slide under the retainer and snap into place.
Lid slides into a grove on top and secures with a single 3mm fastener.
Lastly you will notice the the top has a set back. I had to add this to allow clearance for the timing belt on my particular machine. I used this space for a wire chase and added hangers for this purpose.
