This is a 1/72 scale model of a fictional 8 wheeled A.F.V. When printed, with glue and labor, it builds, a rolling car toy or can be finished for display or gaming purposes. This was my first design and far from easy to print or build, even as a master model builder I found it difficult. I have designed this vehicle for ease filing and sanding of hard plastic as well as to optimize customization with detail parts through "kit bashing" (use of parts from existing plastic model kits).
Assembly is difficult! This model is better suited for experienced builders, makers and gamers. The Mk.III (Chinchilla) offers a much improved print and easy assembly. Don't worry the Mk.IV is on the way.
A functional Mk.II model can be built from the first three files, but warped corners from printing may lead to difficulties in fit; therefore, the "new hull" from the fourth file was developed to address this issue. Also, the cylinder below the turret is too tall and will need to be cut down or modified, in addition the axles are too long and need to be shortened. The hull needs a support structure, the wheels do not and it is difficult to remove.
After much sanding and three coats of primer I finally got a smooth finish. I had trouble printing really small parts like, hatches and details, so used model kit parts. I airbrushed the model and used the HD stencil system from Anarchy Models for the Hex camo pattern. The paint job turned out well and the stencils are a really great product.
