I brought myself an Alienware 13 R3 gaming laptop for when I am away on work and want to play my games. One thing I noticed was when playing the machine would (unsurprisingly) get hot. Running a full GTX1060 means lots of heat that needs venting.
With the machine sat on a firm surface it sits only a few millimeters from it, this means the air is somewhat constricted (although it looks like there are side vents on the machine as well to draw additional air in).
I have made these simple feet to boost the back end up and make it easier for the laptop to breath. It also means when I use it in my living room, where it has to sit on the floor, it is able to suck up air without being 'filtered' through the carpet.
One final thing is that it adjusts the angle of the keyboard and has, for me anyway, made typing a slightly more comfortable affair.
-UPDATE-
I have added a second, two part, version. This has a plastic section, and where the grip touches the laptop on top and the feet, a section that I printed using FPE. This give more grip on the laptop and more friction on the feet to stop it moving on harder surfaces. This needs to be dual extrusion printed as the feet are secured inside the clip to ensure they don't get pulled off if the laptop is moved about on them.
-UPDATE 2-
A support bar has been included as well. This helps spread the load when using the laptop on a softer surface (a deeper pile carpet or bed) and tries to keep the back lifted to air can still reach the fan inputs.
