So we have 2 dachshunds that know the sound of the ring camera notification and would be at the door before you could get there... You could grab and hold 1, but when we got the 2nd, catching both before opening the door was next to impossible. And yes we've been training them but they're doxies... extremely stubborn, and getting them to do something they don't to do is a slow process! So we took our AKC kennel fence and undid one of the joints where 2 sections come together to make a 2nd barrier. But the latch that is on there, while very secure is a pain to get open and closed - especially if you're dealing with 2 dogs while trying to get to the door in a reasonable timeframe.
So this latch is a simple flip-up that attaches to the gate, and flips down over the overlap of the gate and fence. It's potentially not totally secure but it's just to keep them from getting to the door while we answer it. If we needed to use it as it was originally intended, we'd just use the original latch. But the puppies have their own backyard so that probably won't be that often anyway.
In the one I printed, I didn't leave enough clearance for it to open all the way. I believe I've fixed that in this version. Maybe one day I'll re-print it. Maybe one day they'll listen better. Not sure which may come first! :D
I made the part over the gate with a bit of extra room with the intention of putting some rubber (like from a bicycle tire tube) to help it "grab" but still leave some room for adjustment.
The 2 screws are M4x20 and should just screw in.
Edit - just to be clear the "AKC" part in the title comes from the fact this was made to fit the exercise pen/kennel sold by PetSmart (and probably others) with the "AKC" badge on it. It may or may not fit others.
