Eachine individual piece was created using Sketchup , Cleaned using Cleanup3 from the Extension warehouse , loaded into Autodesk Netfabb , checked for errors , loaded back into Sketchup , adjusted , repeat until the wife threatens divorce , finally thrown into Simplify , build previewed and then thrown back into Sketchup to remove and errors Simplify found , rinse, repeat until you hair turns grey and then printed :D yay
Airwolf Fuselage for a 250 sized electric heli , based around the HK250GT, its a work in progress but i will will be adding to the model.........
Gun pod
Missile pod
Landing gear
Vertical stab
Horizontal stab
Print with 0 bottom layers and a single perimeter in simplify on high setting, or what ever your preference for a light but flexible fuse , choose 2 perimeters for a more solid airframe
Print with a 5% infill which will fill the fuse with a large hexagonal mesh to act as a support , you can snip this out later.
Windows and doors are inset so you can remove them relatively easy if you want.
Be aware that this is a 3 part model , forward section, middle and tail and when i finish the landing gear the centre section will be changed a little.
Part 2 of the master plan is to try and load the gcode from simplyfy 3d into Sketchup so that I can edit the honeycomb hexagonal supports and remove the sections that the heli's frame will be places into. This will remove the guess work I was going to use so hopefully will be more accurate. It would also mean that the single perimeter print would be quite a bit stronger whilst still keeping a light weight. The hk250gt donor heli frame is a pretty generic shape so the fuselage should require very little if any modification to be used.
I am currently increasing the details on the machine gun pods and rocket launchers and will add some holes to the fuselage we're the empty pod now sits so that you can choose to fly with or without weapons on show.
I need to create 2 small grills to insert into the intakes next to the doors, add the turbine details and design a functional but good looking retractable wheel system. Finally I will add the upper turbine exhausts and the vertical and horizontal stabs and any other details that will improve the aesthetics.
Would love to see this in a low poly version it would look quite stealthy I think, like the stealth blackhawk which will be my next challenge.
This is my first upload and is a W.i.P.
Thanks for any advice you care to send my way please be very critical I want to become more proficient and hopefully give a little back to the community.
**10/12/2018 added photo's as you can see it prints beautifully
