The advanced transit building on Billings Farm Road in White River Junction is very new. It was built in 2010-2011. Advanced Transit is a service for commuters, shoppers, and anyone needing transportation. The cost for the bus ride is free. The services are made possible by contributions from Upper Valley towns, Dartmouth College, and DHMC. The free bus service is part of an effort to decrease traffic congestion in the area. The college and hospital feel that the services that are offered cut back on parking issues. All buses have wheel chair lifts and drivers are trained to assist riders on and off the bus. The bus also have external bike racks. Advanced Transit does not run on major holidays. There are 5 routes and a Dartmouth/ Hanover shuttle, as well as a DHMC shuttle. 50% of Advanced Transit riders say they use to bus service 5 days a week. 33% say they ride 3-4 days a week. The shuttles run every 5-10 minutes.
