Acryl PC Case (Version 0)

A PC case made from acryl, aluminum and painted wood. The vertical arrangement of the expansion cards on the tilted mainboard, in conjunction with the 3 120mm case fans, allows for an amplified stack-effect. Tinted acryl is used to build the S-formed main cover, while the mainboard cases sides are made from brushed aluminum. The rest of the case is made of black painted wood. The main idea of the case is to create the visual illusion of a very light-weight, floating pc case that can be placed on a desk. As of now we still haven't found the perfect position for either the power supply nor the optical drive. While the current PSU position is quite ideal from a thermal point of view, it leads to a very high center of mass, which is critical for the aimed tilt of the case. The optical drive on the other hand doesn't fit into our sceme of simplicity. It would be better, if it could be included into the mainboard case... We will try other versions of this case with changed tilt angles, curvature radii etc. My overall opinion is that, apart from the optical drive, the case delivers exactly what we wanted to create in terms of look. Unfortunately the price for this is a rather excessive use of space, as the overall dimensions are ~ 60x60x60 cm^3.
