Acclamator-class assault ship

The Acclamator-class assault ship was a type of capital ship first used by the Galactic Republic, and later used by the Galactic Empire, primarily for planetary defense and skirmishes against large invasion forces. It was first used in the first battle of Geonosis, where it transported legions upon legions of clone troopers into the battlefield, which proved pivotal for the Republic victory. After the decisive victory, the Acclamators were very commonly used as large troop transports ships that could unload hundreds, if not thousands of clones for large-scale sieges or planetary invasions against Separatist-held worlds. At the end of the Clone Wars, and after Palpatine nominates himself the Emperor (thus forming the Galactic Empire), the Acclamators sought very limited service , as the Imperial Navy began fielding more modern capital ships, such as Victory II- or Imperial I/II-class Star Destroyers. Star Wars: Empire at War (and its Forces of Corruption expansion) was one of the only times the Acclamator sought direct combat.
