So I bought a new gauge cluster for my '67 Ford tractor, but it didn't come with any bulb bases for the warning and dash lights. Instead of using the 50 year old ones from the OEM cluster, I'm printing some up to hold a 5mm LED with enough room inside to solder a dropping resistor straight to the lead. Planning on gluing the LED into them and filling the rear hole with silicone to seal them up.
Also included the STL for the 5mm LED sanity check model.
Update: Printed three out this morning in 3D Solutec black PLA. Everything fits fine. LED pushes in snug, and body snaps into the gauge cluster nice and tight.
Printed with 2 walls, 50% infill, no supports. Oriented just as shown with flat end down, used a raft for good adhesion since little surface area down there.
Added 5mm LED mount V2. This one has a step in the hole, so any glue or epoxy fill will be mechanically locked in. Tie a knot in the wires going to the LED so they'll be embedded, then fill with epoxy and it shouldn't ever come apart.
Added plug for same 5/8 hole size. My cluser has two unused holes for turn signal indicators which my tractor doesn't have. These will keep the little flying spawn of Satan from filling them with mud.
