This is an original ray gun side-arm I've drawn up.
It has provisions for LEDS and wiring. It has 23 5mm holes set up for lights. Example in video below.
6 go in each of the 3 light rings
3 go in the barrel
and 3 go in the back "control panel"
There is a slot on the opposite side of the control panel for a button cell battery holder. This doubles as a greeblie on the side of the gun and easy battery replacement.
Print the light ring 3 times in transparent material
Print the barrel in transparent as well. Everything else can be solid. I used "natural" pla for my lighted parts. Then later paint in the parts that you don't want to illuminate. I'll post more pictures as I get mine painted.
The trigger I mounted by using a chunk of PLA strand, sliding through the holes in the chassis, through the hole in the trigger, and then glued the strand to the sides of the chassis. I used a momentary spring loaded button behind them to activate the lighting and it springs the trigger forward again.
The 1/4" holes in the side of the forward body and chassis are for adding a piece of 1/4" tubing for some more detail. i used some red plastic fuel line.
